Spring News

It has been a busy spring in Room 10!  We are finishing our author study of Eric Carle and the students are busy writing a fiction story in class.  We are going the the zoo on May 24. We are excited to see all of the animals.  Please dress for the weather!  Ms. Gustin, our student teacher form WOU, is teaching a science unit on magnets. Be sure to ask your child what they have learned so far!

March

We have had a very busy winter in Room 10!  We recently had a guest speaker from Evergreen Aviation Musuem.  The students had a great time learning more about space.  During the next week and a half we will be practicing a play that we will present on Wednesday, March 21.  It will be at 10:30 am.  Please plan to attend!  Conferences will be held on Wednesday the 21st and Thursday the  22nd.  I am looking forward to talking  with you.  If I don't get a chance to talk to you, I want to wish you a wonderful and restful spring break!

Thank You

Thanks to those of you who went on our field trip to the planetarium!  The students had a wonderful time and were able to show off what they have learned so far in science.
Just a reminder that Family Fun Night is coming up on March 2nd.  There is still time to sign up to volunteer.
I am still looking for scissor donations.  If you have any extra student scissors at home or would like to buy some to donate, we would really appreciate it!

Supplies Needed

I can't believe that it is already February!  We will be having a party on the 14th and a field trip on Feb. 16.
We are currently studying non-fiction in both reading and writing.  We sure to ask your child about this.
At this time we could really use some safety type scissors for our classroom.  If you have some around your house or would be will to buy a few pairs to donate it would be great.  Right now we are having to share and it doesn't always work out!  Thanks for your continued support.  Feel free to stop by and visit any time.

I am so happy to have the opportunity to work at Englewood this year.  I have been a teacher in the Salem Keizer School District for about 18 years. My experience has been in teaching primarily first and second grade.  I am excited to get to work with your children this year.  Please feel free to stop in and introduce yourself.  I look forward to working together to make this a wonderful year.
